Allen Levenson moderates the SDV foundation panel at Reuters Automotive USA 2026
At Reuters Events: Automotive USA in Detroit, Allen Levenson moderated “Accelerate to Market: Building the SDV Foundation Without Losing Speed” with leaders from Karma, GM, Scout Motors, Vayavya Labs, and Sinclair's ONE Media.

On Tuesday, October 27, our Director of Data & Analytics, Allen Levenson, moderated “Accelerate to Market: Building the SDV Foundation Without Losing Speed” at Reuters Events: Automotive USA 2026 at Huntington Place in Detroit.
The panel
Allen was joined by Keefe Leung of Karma Automotive, Krishna Kommineni of General Motors, Suhant Ranga of Scout Motors, Ganesh Thonse of Vayavya Labs, and Mark Aitken of Sinclair Broadcast Group and ONE Media.
Why legacy architecture slows OEMs down
Most OEMs still carry an architecture where functions are spread across dozens of ECUs. Every software change sets off validation of interdependent systems, which stretches development cycles and adds cost while some competitors design vehicles in half the time.
What a standardized SDV platform makes possible
The panel looked at how centralized compute and service-oriented architecture shorten development timelines. With a standardized SDV platform in place, an OEM can send over-the-air updates, bring down warranty costs, and add new features without asking the owner to visit a dealer.
The delivery path matters too
AMA and ONE Media ran a three-part webinar series in 2022 on using NextGen Broadcast (ATSC 3.0) to supplement cellular networks for over-the-air updates, vehicle positioning, and safety alerts. Broadcast sends one transmission to every equipped vehicle in a tower's range, a different cost curve from updating each car over cellular.
Thank you to Reuters Events for hosting, and to Keefe, Krishna, Suhant, Ganesh, and Mark for the conversation.

NewsletterDrivers pick the station by what is next door
Paren studied 4,105 DC fast charging stations at 100 kW or above and found the median site running 9 sessions a day, grocery-adjacent sites running 42, and sites with nothing within walking distance running 3. A 100 kW session takes 25 to 40 minutes, which is what a grocery run takes, so the low numbers at most sites measure whether people will wait in a parking lot for half an hour and tell you very little about EV demand in that trade area.
