Reuters Events: Automotive USA brings senior OEM and supplier leaders together at Huntington Place in Detroit to tackle major shifts in software-defined vehicles (SDVs), AI integration, autonomous technology, and manufacturing efficiency.

Allen Levenson moderates an SDV panel

On Tuesday, October 27, our Director of Data & Analytics, Allen Levenson, moderates “Accelerate to Market: Building the SDV Foundation Without Losing Speed.” Allen is joined on stage by panelists from three automakers, a vehicle software company, and a broadcaster:

Keefe Leung, Director of Software Defined Systems Architecture, Karma Automotive · Krishna Kommineni, Engineering Group Manager, General Motors · Suhant Ranga, Sr. Director, Systems Integration, Vehicle Software & Electrical Engineering, Scout Motors · Ganesh Thonse, Chief Solutions Officer, Vayavya Labs · Mark Aitken, SVP, Sinclair Broadcast Group, and President, ONE Media

The panel takes on the legacy architecture most OEMs still carry, where functions spread across dozens of ECUs mean every software change sets off validation of interdependent systems, which stretches development cycles and adds cost. The panelists also look at how centralized compute and service-oriented architecture are shortening development timelines for OEMs competing against companies that design vehicles in half the time.

With a standardized SDV platform in place, an OEM can send over-the-air updates, bring down warranty costs, and add new features without asking the owner to visit a dealer, and the panel gets into what it takes to reach that point.
